Perseverance and patience define the works of the British snow artist Simon Beck.
Beck almost always draws mathematical patterns. The geometrical designs are more fun to do, since there is less tedious measuring. ‘You can get to drawing much sooner. You are just following simple rules. You don’t have to keep referring to a diagram. You can do it from memory. And they just look the best.’
Simon Beck creates perfect, detailed geometrical designs using nothing more than a traditional compass, a map drawing and a pair of trusted snowshoes to make carefully-planned tracks in the snow. In February 2015, Beck used his distinctive artistic talents and passion for orienteering to design a series of snow art drawings especially for Banff National Park.
